Spot Color Printing
The most common type of printing, spot color printing uses solid colors to create the image. Each color in the image is printed separately on its own screen. The number of colors affects the cost, but we have the ability to print up to 12 spot colors.
- Yields a Sharp, Professional Quality Print
- Spot colors can be print on any color garment
- The more spot colors in the design the higher the print cost
- Used for most standard print of logos, graphics, and text
Half-tone Printing
This technique in printing allows lesser amount of ink in a certain color to be used, allowing it to mix with the garment color or other print colors to create the illusion of more colors than are actually being printed
- The print will be more muted with lighter tones of color
- White you can print halftones on any color garment, we recommend this method on light colored garments with a dark ink for the best results
- Price: Each half tone of a color is no more expensive than its full tone – a great way to save money when an additional color is needed in some situations
- Used for gradients, background images using a single color to look like its more than 1 color
4-Color Process (CMYK/4-CP) Printing
When printing a full color image or photograph that involves many colors and many gradients or shades of colors, process prints are used. The 4-Color CMYK process uses the basic colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black to create the image, much like an inkjet printer.
- The print will be more muted, lighter colors. Spot colors are often added for text or other elements that need to stand out in the print.
- We can only print 4-CP on white garments
- This printing method typically requires more screens and skill in order to successfully reproduce the image and is more expensive per print verses Spot Color Printing
- Typically used for Photographs or Multi-Colored images with many tones of color when printing on a white shirt
Simulated Process Printing
Sim-Process prints use a combination of spot colors and half tones to create all the colors in the image. When printing a full color image with a lot tones of colors where a more vibrant, sharp print is desired, simulated process is used.
- Yields vibrant, professional quality prints
- Print on any color garment
- This printing method typically requires more screens and skill in order to successfully reproduce the image and is more expensive per print verses Spot Color Printing. This is also a slightly more expensive option to print multiple colors and shades than the 4-Color CMYK process, and typically involves the use of 7-10 colors to create the design.
- Used for full color images with many tones of color when printing on a dark shirt
